Bones and their frosty slumber
Each day for the past few days, I have felt this heat,
Not from this weather that has frozen my bones deep
It is, in fact, that coffee table with a hard wooden top
That showed all scratches from those years gone by
Ready each day to bear every weight with all might,
of all those numerous cups of caffeine in pure delight!
Even though my hands keep on freezing time and again,
the smell of those powder pods reignites the fire within
Bringing all my warm smiles back on these frozen lips,
Melting away the stuck-up thoughts with strong kicks
And ready each day to bear every weight with all might,
of all those numerous cups of caffeine in pure delight!
I hear the swish and swash! of my pure coffee delight,
The occasional coughing of its nozzle tells the time,
as I get ready to pick up the pen and scribble it a bit
to warm its ink between my palm and fully prepare it,
And ready each day to bear every weight with all might,
of all those numerous cups of caffeine in pure delight!
Oh! how I can smell the freshness of those beans –
even though they are not what can be seen,
Perhaps it is the coldness that surrounds my being,
that has blurred the soft bones in my heart’s scene,
And ready each day to bear every weight with all might,
of all those numerous cups of caffeine in pure delight!
Even these cookies seem to have hardened further.
Just as the soul of our eyes shrinks with harsh weather
Forgetting that after all this cold and frost, some time
where soft rays and pure sunlight are ready to shine,
Ready each day to bear every weight with all might,
of all those numerous cups of caffeine in pure delight!
I looked up, and suddenly the day was all over,
So was the frost in my bones as I cosied in slumber!
